If possible, you should normally log onto a Restricted User account.
Note that with XP, you can have multiple accounts logged on at a time,
which is very convenient. Ideally, you'd normally use a Restricted
User account (helps stop viruses/worms/trojans/sons), but if you need
to change system settings or install certain software, switch to an
admin account and do that, then switch back.

Hold down the Windows key (between left Ctrl and left Alt) and press L
to get a login screen to switch to another user without logging off
the other user first.
