[pchelpers] Re: i have a virus

You can go to their site and get cleaned out--also maybe your Norton sub has
expired. Their is a certain version of Norton that will not run with window
2000 or win xp-- you can go to another site for help-- I think Symantec has one
of their version free -- I am not sure though but I would check it out here is
another one John posted earlier

http://nct3.digitalriver.com/0001/ I just read about windows xp
Please NOTE: Current Symantec trialware is NOT Windows® XP compatible. We are
planning to make Windows XP compatible trialware available soon. -- you know
Nigel gave you some good advice to follow.

  I followed the instructions on the Symantac site after Norton's quarintined
  the two infected files. ie: kernel32.exe and kdll.dll

  Now back in normal mode I have a file named kernel32.dll but no file named
  kdll.dll
  =================
  STRANGE THING.... Yesterday I installed the Norton Software {right after I
  realized I had a virus}. It ran with my XP just fine even though I got the
  "not compatable " window in the middle of the install. Today Norton's will
  not run. I even re-installed it. It will not run anymore.
  =================
  AVG is not giving away their software until tommorrow (Dec. 1st) so I am
  without protection again today.
  ===============
  I deserved to get the virus. I had 4 of the common warning signs and I
  ignored them all.

  1) the email was from a stranger and contained an attachment.
  2) there was no text in the e-mail. & no explaination of what the attachment
  was.
  3) the attachment had a double extension -- .doc.scr
  4) alot of viruses use the .scr extension.

  I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE I OPENED THE ATTACHMENT!

  p.s. Thanks everyone for your advice and assistance in killing the bug.
