Where are you located?  Perhaps your difficulty with
@Home is possibly location= Quality of ISP cable in
your area?

I have had cable internet with @Home since March 2000,
via NEW fiber optic installation throughout the
community.  The only time I have experienced problems
was last FALL, along with many other areas in the US.

The problems centered around email access, and was
solved WITHIN DAYS at that time by their switching
servers for me.  I have followed the postings of many
people in Usenet bulletin boards, and I believe @Home
has a handle on their difficulties, which appear to be
location centered, rather than overall.

One thing their "TECHIE" discovered, was I had some
45,000 temp files, and over 2000 messages cluttering
my harddrive.  When those were mostly deleted, my
problems were solved.  I can only assume that was the
reason.

I can only <GRIN> when I listen to friends (locally)
who relate to me their difficulties with DSL, and
regret of dropping @Home.
