[pchelpers] Re: half price domain registration?

Hi JT

I just had a brief read through their Domain Registration Agreement and it
sounds like they would take over from what VeriSign does for you. However,
I found clause 7 (see below) an interesting one, that I think you should be
aware of. I suspect VeriSign has a similar clause, but nobody ever reads
this stuff anyway :)

You may find that you would have to tell VeriSign yourself that you don't
want to renew with them, otherwise you may get billed by both parties - it's
probably worth sending Renew My Domains an e-mail about it.

Personally, I like the policy of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The
question is, will that $20 per year really break the bank? Do you really
want to change providers?

7. Ownership of Information and Data
You agree and acknowledge that RenewMyDomains owns the following information
for those registrations for which we have accepted: (a) the original
creation date of the registration, (b) the expiration date of the
registration, (c) the name, postal address, e-mail address, voice telephone
number, and where available fax number of all contacts for the domain name
registration, (d) any remarks concerning the registered domain name that
appear or should appear in the Whois or similar database, and (e) any other
information we generate or obtain in connection with the provision of domain
name registration services, other than the domain name being registered, the
IP addresses of the primary nameserver and any secondary nameservers for the
domain name, and the corresponding names of those nameservers.
RenewMyDomains does not have any ownership interest in your specific
personal registration information outside of its rights in our domain name
database.

Bevan
