I guess you mean Internet Explorer and not Firefox or another browser, 
and then what you meant was not the above but the general tab's browsing 
history delete button.

If you want to keep most things (like user names) in forms and get rid 
of only certain old searches or other entries in forms (like incorrect 
user names etc.!) simply choose (highlight) them in the list and click 
delete. In Firefox, you can do the same or even delete an item after 
it's in the search box by highlighting it there and pressing Delete 
while holding down the Shift button.
