I replied because typing "C:" should never give you "Bad command or
filename". There's another error message for when the drive does not
exist. If you got "Bad Command or Filename", then you almost certainly
typed it wrong.

A few years ago, Seagate was apparently putting out a lot of bad
drives.  Now, it looks like IBM drives are flaky.

Recently, several drive manufacturers said that they would be reducing
the warranty period to 1 year; I don't like that, since it means that
they don't have to worry so much about how long they last.
