Hi Bob.
In control panel, in fonts, under 'install new font' I browsed to it,
clicked ok.
It is now listed as a font.
I can browse to it in my email program and use it when I send an email.
But it does not show up in Word, and that is where I need to use it for
a particular application.
It is a .ttf font.

How did you 'install' it? If it is added properly it automatically will
show up in Word since Word just uses what is added to Windows.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
