[pchelpers] Re: downloading-do I open or save the files?

Do you have a CD burner? Saving the programs you always want to disk may be
a good idea for you. The time may come when some of those programs won't be
available any longer or the free ones may then cost. You can always update
after the puter is up & running, too.

When you "open the file" you install from that point. When you "save the
file" you save it to a designated spot to install later. I always have a
file on the desktop in which I download all downloaded programs. I can then
install at a convenient time, save to disk, read the "Read Me' files before
install (a good idea), not have to download again if the install goes bad or
I have to uninstall & then reinstall. You can always remove the downloaded
install file after installing to save hd space.

When you do puter maintenance you should be cleaning out all temp files,
etc.
Hope this helps a bit,
Ed
