I am in the process of replacing applications to a new home computer. In downloading some of the free software such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, Pop Up Stopper, etc. I am asked if I want to "open the file" or "save the file" to my computer. This is also true of applications that I have paid for where I do not have the CDs in my possession. Where I have the CD, I simply follow the vendor instructions. What do you advise on the downloads, should I "open the files" or "save the files" to my computer? The search answers I find deal with the mechanics, rather than the practical side. If I only "open the files" to my computer, do I have less flexibility with the application than if I "save the files" then "open the files" myself? If I "save the files" on applications that I will never modify, doesn't this just place more clutter and use of capacity on my computer where I feel that I can go back to a vendor and ask for another download? Thanks for your help as I don't want the clutter on the new computer that is on my old computer.
