Right John.............

Main PC in # 1 on it's own...............flying.
Second PC in # 2 on it's own...............flying
Laptop in # 3 on it's own.................flying
Laptop 2 in # 4 on it's own................ flying

Any or all of these combinations tried together, either won't connect or do
so very slowly. Therefore I don't think that on of the machines has a
infection as they have all been tried in varying combinations. I have also
tried different cables and the result is the same.

My daughter has decided that she would like a wireless router as he new
laptop has wireless connectivity built in, so we've sent for a Linksys
WRT54GL as that can be hard wired and wireless.

I did wonder what it could be that has caused this as it just seemed to
happen all of a sudden. John's theory would be creditable if we didn't have
the other PCs/Laptops to try in combinations.

So, I have to come to the reasoning that the router has gone belly up? I
mean, electronics do go sometimes don't they?
BTW the present router is a Linksys BEFSR41 4 port switch with broadband
router.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
