Try putting your TV and VCR on channel 3 (or 4 - whichever your cable 
monitors) and the digital receiver on the channel you want to 
record.  However, I am thinking you CANNOT view another channel while 
recording with this hookup.   Provided your cable connections are 
right.......this should work.
