[pchelpers] desktop icon in quick launch / missing

I have xp home on my laptop.
Sometime last night while I was sleeping the gremlins came and removed 
my desktop icon from my quick launch area. 
I use that icon and want it back!  (System restore didn't get it back 
either.)

Could someone point me in the right direction please.
