Java 1.5 is the latest version for desktop use and for programming. Java 1.4.2 is the old version. I got the 'general use' version. My hubby got a different version for programming, but both have 1.5 designation. By the way, I always heard it was Javascript that should be disabled in browsers, not Java. Most viruses and other malicious code utilize Javascript. I hadn't heard anything bad about Java itself (other than the security issue previously mentioned). -Susan On Tuesday, November 30, 2004, 12:00:41 AM, you wrote: > The different versions apply to different uses of the product. > the 1.4.2 06 is for desktop use some of the others are for > programming etc. > Cy -------list-services-below----------- Regards, John Durham (list moderator) <http://modecideas.com/contact.html?sig> Freelists login at http://www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/lsg2.cgi List archives at http://www.freelists.org/archives/pchelpers PC-HELPERS list subscribe/unsub at http://modecideas.com/discuss.htm?sig Latest news live feeds at http://modecideas.com/indexhomenews.htm?sig Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
