I DID the regular install and told it to install to the external.  It 
put part on the one drive, and part on the C: drive.  The drivers were 
on the C: drive.
I had trouble copying that over.  Once I finally got it all to the 
external drive, then it gave me an error <can't recall now what it was> 
that it could not open.
Thanks for that link.  Next time I have the external drive hooked up 
I'll give it a try.
My hard drive on the external is MUCH bigger than the one on the 
laptop.... so it would be nice if it would have worked the first try.
