I have a feeling about this one. It needs more elimination testing. One 
possible cause could be a loose heat sink on the CPU. There are also a 
few virus infections that shut the system down after 30 seconds or so. 
Does the activity depend on AVG running? To establish that, you could 
try performing maintainance without AVG to see if it does this again.

If it doesn't, you could try another anti virus (Bitdefender V10 for 
example).
