Jackie,
Some sites will shut down your browser if you try to automatically zap the
pop up windows. In fact some IP providers want you to use pop up windows
because they generate revenue for the provider. If you shut these off
automatically your connection will be terminated and in some cases you will
be violating their TOS (terms of service). This may not be true in your
case, I recommend that you just close them out as they appear, far safer and
no software to screw up.

Hi Jackie
One quick way to get rid of these annoyances is to hit
ctrl+w or use pop up killer software. But the latter
can be more annoying than the pop-ups themselves as a
recent post had shown. Some of these pop-ups killers
will prevent your browser from loading. Here's
something you might want to check out. I've not used
it myself (prefer to let my left fingers do the
zapping!) but looks good because it gives you control
as what you want zapped.
