[pchelpers] Zone Alarm

You know, my computer was sluggish and I was having a few minor, but irritating
problems. I started with process of elimination, asking my son-in-law (who
built my computer) about Zone Alarm. He told me all about the program, how it
worked, who should/should not use it. He ended up by saying:
".....Zone alarm is a complicated piece of software that is not user friendly
and takes up unecessary memory (his opinion) Also (in his opinion) if a person
feels they need a firewall they should just get a router which doesn't take
away any computer resources. Just my 2 cents worth."

I am on dial-up, so when I am done messing around I disconnect. We only have
this one pc and I don't have a network exposed all of the time. Anway, to cut
this short, I got rid of Zone Alarm (great software if you need it) and my
computer responds quickly now to my every little whim. :)

I am running Norton Corperate Edition, but have not received any virus to date.
I have a question for those of you who are receiving all of these virus. Your
anti-virus software is catching them, right? How are they getting in? Are
they all attachments or what?

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
