Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I should mention that cookies were
enabled, the browser does have 128 bit encryption, java/javascript were
enabled. I did install Service Pack 2 at one point but still had the problem.
But, to make a long story short, my hard drive was reformatted after that due
to other problems I was experiencing, and I had to start all over. I was going
to get Service Pack 3 after reinstalling everything but was reluctant to get it
because it was 25 megs and I only have a dial-up connection. I guess I could
order the CD if nessary, but I didn't want to go through all the hassle of
getting it if that wasn't the problem. But certainly if I had a fast
connection I would give it a try.
As far as the firewall, how do you configure it? I was told that all new
computers come with a built-in firewall and supposedly that's the case with
mine, but I've never seen anything that allows me to configure it.
