Susan,
You have to have cookies turned on and all of the other things that others
have mentioned on this list to you already. If you have a firewall you will
need to configure the firewall for all of the sites that you want to visit
and do business with. Remember that when you are dealing with a secure
connection, i.e., banking or something like that you have to give the site
permission to go thru your firewall or when they try to contact your
computer with the information requested by you, your firewall will make it
appear that you do not want to communicate with them. Hence the timeout when
dealing with your bank or other secure sites.

Subject: [pchelpers] Windows 2000 guru needed
I just bought a new computer with Windows 2000 and need some input on a
problem I keep experiencing. I frequently do online banking but I can't
access my bank account at all with this new system. I try to log in and
nothing happens. The new page attempts to load and then just quits.
Finally I just get a "time out" error. I can log into the bank on my old
Windows 95 computer with no problems at all. I have the latest browser
installed (IE 6) on my new machine so that shouldn't be the problem. Could
this have something to do with the built-in firewall, or my
networking/dial-up configurations? This problem is not just restricted to
banking but usually any place where secure information is being transmitted.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
susan
