please go get all your updates that you need -- for windows 2000 there are
patches for it I have windows 2000 pro-- I had a problem in that domain
before mine works just fine now -- oooh another thing you need 128 cipher
strength ie explorer your online banking won't function with out it. If you
have a firewall installed make sure it configured with each program
--occasionally I have to uninstall my fire wall and then do a brand new
install because it would just shut me right down off the cable mess up my
windows configurations I do recommend though you get your patches for
windows 2000 especially service pack 3 . Check your iexplorer if its not the
128 bit you can't access your online banking Hope this helps--- Jackie

Subject: [pchelpers] Windows 2000 guru needed
I just bought a new computer with Windows 2000 and need some input on a
problem I keep experiencing. I frequently do online banking but I can't access
my bank account at all with this new system. I try to log in and nothing
happens. The new page attempts to load and then just quits. Finally I just
get a "time out" error. I can log into the bank on my old Windows 95 computer
with no problems at all. I have the latest browser installed (IE 6) on my new
machine so that shouldn't be the problem. Could this have something to do
with the built-in firewall, or my networking/dial-up configurations? This
problem is not just restricted to banking but usually any place where secure
information is being transmitted.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
susan
