[pchelpers] Re: Windows 2000

Windows crashes could result from a number of things. You'd have to
figure out more of the nature of the crash to determine it's source. I
know I was one who suffered frequently from Windows 2000 crashes. The
problem was MANY things going wrong all at the same time and it was a
painstaking process trying to figure out the causes. I had a video
card that was about to die, which caused strange Windows behaviour and
frequent rebooting for no reason. I also had a hard drive removeable
drawer that didn't connect to the computer properly and that caused
crash after crash (to solve that problem we just installed a new
drawer). Then there was the registry problem. Somehow the registry
became corrupt and Windows 2000 was no longer able to load. We never
could solve that problem, despite the fact that we backed up the
registry frequently. Our problem was that we needed to get into
Windows in order to restore the backed up registry, but we could not
get into Windows in order to do that. So much for backing up the
registry. To make a long story short, we ended up installing Windows
on a new hard drive and copying over files from the old "unbootable"
hard drive. It took a few days to reconfigure Windows again but that
was the only solution we could think of regarding the corrupt registry
problem.

Probably none of this relates to the problem you have. In your case,
find out exactly when and how the computer crashes first. Then go
 from there.

------Original Message------
I seem to remember some messages posted in the past regarding Windows
2000 crashing or crashing often and someone related what the problem
was and how it could be remedied.
Did I dream this or am I remembering reality?
If it really did happen (get posted) would someone please send me the
info again.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
