I registered the program after I installed it. That is not the problem.

This is what I did:

I put the install disk into the DVD drive to uninstall the program. Then I
saw the REPAIR option and I tried that. It took a very long time but
eventually I got the message that the repair was successful. 

Low and behold, the nasty window disappeared. Now I can open the email
attachments and files the way they should open.

If it's wanting you to register, you'll need to do that in order to
shut it up.

Otherwise, you might try uninstalling, restarting, and reinstalling --
set it to RUN ALL FROM HARD DRIVE.
