Thanks, everyone,
the problem seems to be solved.
I did as Scott instructed and then found I could not get online at all.
I had forgotten my network's password.
So I went to my primary desktop and changed the network password.
I entered the new password on my secondary desktop.
I still couldn't get online.
Some time passed and it came online
I still don't know what I did that solved the problem.
