David,
This will restore windows to the last configuration - it will NOT restore
deleted files.

Inge,
If you deleted a folder from within Outlook Express you will have been asked
if you want to "delete the whatever folder and move it to your Deleted Items
folder". If you say yes, then the folder is deleted but it is still
available in your deleted items. If you then delete it from deleted items,
you are asked if you really want to delete it, and you are told that this is
un-recoverable, so you are given 2 chances to not delete stuff.
(At least, that is how my outlook express 5.5 works in W98 - I guess it is
the same for all versions)

If you used windows explorer to delete an outlook express .dbx file, that
file will be sent to your recycle bin (depending on recycle bin settings)
and therefore will be recoverable. The deletion process will make the
folder (or file) disappear from outlook express in either case.

In general. depending on your Recycle Bin properties, files are either
deleted to the recycle bin (which means that the file reference is removed
but the disk space used by that file is preserved so that you can "restore"
the file by re-writing a file referense) or it is deleted permanently. If
the file is deleted permanently the disk space used by that file is not
preserved, any disk write may write over the area previously used by your
file. In this case your file is definitely not recoverable.

Sorry this is so long winded but file and disk management stuff is not easy
to explain in simple terms

Good luck
Nigel
