My honest opinion is that this is only because of lack of market
share.

Most of the antivirus vendors offer a Linux product.

After some scrounging, I found this page:
http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.aspx?qprid=2

I would assume that the figures are based on web browsers. As far as
Linux is concerned, this is probably the best objective measure;
measuring by sales will likely skew results the worst due to Linux
being available free and due to bootleg copies of Windows being
common. Nevertheless, no matter how you measure, I wouldn't expect
the figures to be very significantly different.

Note that figures for servers are significantly different.

Windows XP 85.30%
Windows 2000 5.00%
Windows 98 1.77%
Windows ME 0.89%
Windows NT 0.68%
Windows Vista 0.16%
Windows 95 0.03%
              -----
              93.83

Mac OS 4.15%
MacIntel 1.52%
              -----
              5.67

Linux 0.37%
              -----
              0.37

Windows CE 0.04%
Web TV 0.02%
PSP 0.02%
Hiptop 0.02%
Series60 0.01%
              -----
              0.11
