You're talking about common sense. Unfortunately, common sense does
not necessarily apply. In the US, it's legal to have a backup copy of
music that you own. However, if the music is DRM-protected, it's
illegal to actually make a copy, and is apparently also illegal to
possess the means to make such a copy.
