Hi Ekhart,
Friday, March 25, 2005, 10:43:43 AM, you wrote:

The commands that I've been using are the ones listed on those pages.
I liked the svrops page; too bad Microsoft can't write pages that are
so clear. It gets old, reading page after page saying "do xxx in yyy
in order to ...", without any indication of where to look to find out
how to do xxx, and what the alternatives are (i.e., how to do it when
you don't have yyy).
Annoyingly, I can't even seem to get it to create a log file.
I tried updating (nothing), I tried reinstalling (nothing), I tried
uninstalling (product not found), tried installing the full-file
patches directly (product not found). I finally used the MSI Cleanup
tool to remove the MSI entries for Office, and I was then able to
reinstall, which indicates a problem with MSI.
I'll try installing MSI version 3 on the next one, see if that helps
any. I'm not terribly interested in manually removing and reinstalling
Office on all of the ones that don't update properly; I have too much
other stuff that I'm behind on...

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
