The user manual for the cable modem says that I would have to configure
the TCP in Linux for it
to work. But it didn't say configure it with what or how. It just said
to follow the instructions that came
with the Linux manual.
I did find that the internet partly works. I can open some websites but
not others.
Say on the search results page it has 10 weblinks. 3 will open and the
other seven just says that it is waiting.
Linux can see updates, but it can't download any of them, they all fail.
As I said, I can plug in DSL and it works right off the bat, or I can
plug in my old wireless ISP and it works to.
It is only the cable internet that won't work.
I have already said forget it and re-installed with Windows 7.

By the way: I never seen my post, only your reply to it.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
