Yes thank you very much---I solved it myself , it works just great, when you
power up your windows make sure the modem swtch is turned on. . I found the
problem I went into the bios-- com2 was turned off for some unknown reason
I am using Winfax version 9.02-- Symantec has updated patches for this
version it works very good with this modem. Have a great day. Jackie

Hi!
Did you ever get a reply on this?
The manual should tell you what the switches mean. If you haven't
touched them, the default settings shoud be ok.
You didn't say what model the modem is...
What do you mean, it doesn't recognize the modem? You should be able to
hook it up to one of the com ports, set it up in Windows on com1, then
check to see if there's a response (in WinXP, I'd go to Control Panel ->
Phone and Modem Options -> Modems -> Properties -> Diagnostics -> Query
Modem). If no response, I'd switch the cable to the other com port and
try again.

I bought a US Robotic fax modem external- the dip switches are set at
3,5,8 down position . my OS windows 2000 won't recognize the modem.
I am
on cable too , when I went into add a hardware windows 2000 has a
listing for the modem It has selected ports--and the next is not
highlighted either go back or cancel. In system devices I have no yellow
asterisks no conflicts On the back of my tower there is com 1 and com
2( 9 pin male connectors). What am I missing? The wrong driver or do I
have to go into the bios? The
Motherboard Asus K7M Slot A Athlon board. I followed the directions
it
says look for folder win 2000 there isn't any on the cd . The Robotic
Fax Modem box it can be used on win 95/98/2000/nt. Could someone help
me out please. Thank you. Jackie
