Hi, folks!
One more suggestion; I'd be very cautious about doing any tweaks to
Vista other than those already supported by Vista's menus. Vista has
increased self-healing and self-tuning over previous versions, and some
tweaks can defeat or actually disable such features.
For example, you should not disable the Problem Reports and Solutions
subsystem; every time you have a crash, an install program is ended
without installing anything, a device seems to have no working driver
for it, and so forth, this system can report the situation to
Microsoft, and check regularly to see if there's a possible solution
available; if so, it pops up a message to tell you. This even works
for FireFox.
While you're looking at this subsystem, you might want to click on the
"Change Settings" option, and set it to check automatically; that's
what I do on mine. Take a look at Advanced Settings also.
When I look at my list of problem, I see AntiVir listed 9 times (it
doesn't support 64-bit, even though the download page clearly says
otherwise), 1 about device "ATK0110", 1 about "VIA AC'97 Enhanced
Audio Controller", 2 about "Marvell Libertas 802.11b/g Wireless
SoftAP" (the "correct" driver from the vendor doesn't work; this is
the only one flagged in Device Manager), 3 about nVidia High
Definition Audio, 1 about HP PhotoSmart C5180 (it's working; I
downloaded and installed the driver from HP), and 2 for
"PEB_CORRUPTION", whatever that is.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
