Hi Gerald,
>>Sounds like the CMOS battery went out. It should not do so if your
computer is new enough to be under warranty. The CMOS battery should
keep the time reasonably correct even if you put the laptop on the
shelf for a year or so. Perhaps Toshiba laptops don't have CMOS
batteries, and simply depend on the main battery.ter and not viruses?
Scott,
I had the Toshiba notebook for over a year. I am on my second
warranty. IF CMOS is the main battery it died when my AC power
adapter stopped working. The powe adapter was replaced through mail
order.
My apartment is WIFI enabled. I charged the battery and left the
power adapter attached. Tonight, I had to connect my notebook to my
printer in another room. So I removed the adapter and attached the
USB cable - printer to notebook. The battery went dead within 15
minutes.
Is it obvious to replace the battery?
Gerald

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
