[pchelpers] Re: Timeout using Firefox or IE

Ekhart & John,

The web still cannot be accessed.

I realize I have not answered everyone's questions on this subject
completely, However I have followed Ekhart's and John's advice
regarding Malware.

1. The windows security updates were on the system prior to this failure.
2. Originally when it failed they had just finished using Firefox on the
Web and had closed it. When they went back to use it again a short time
later it would not access the WEB. Neither would IE access the WEB.
3. AVG apparently was not completely up to date.
4. The Sygate firewall was active.
5. AVG indicated that Java.Byte Verify 'Trojan' could not be removed.
(not sure if it did anything with it. )
6. I removed the drive today and installed it on my own system.
7. AVG did not find anything on the drive.
8. Spybot found 10 items and removed them.
9. Spy Sweeper found multiple objects that were considered adware but
negligible but it also found something it called IE Highjacker and of
course I had it remove all the items it found.
Before it closed it displayed the following message:

Spy Sweeper successfully removed a known Internet Explorer Jighjacker
from your computer. If it seemed that your IE settings, such as your
home page or searching capabilities have not improved, follow these
steps to fix the issue.
a. Click Shields
b. Click the IE tabs
c. Click Reset IE Page Settings to Defaults
a and b were displayed by Spy Sweeper but there was no item like
described in c.

I have not yet done my research on IE Hijacker but I wanted to get this
message going since I have done a lot of work and wanted to get it
written down. Juno through Dial up will still go out and get email
but the Juno built in Web Browser cannot access the WEB, results are
the same as Firefox and Internet Explorer both through Cable and Dial Up.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
