The mail in the Sent folder is in a file called Sent, without any
extension, and you don't want to delete that until you've salvaged its
contents by copying the contents elsewhere i.e. into a new folder.

Sent.sbd is the name of the Sent folders subfolder, which can be empty
and which, in any case, does not need to be repaired or recreated if
Sent is corrupted (or just not compacting correctly as is probably the
case in George's case)

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
