[pchelpers] The Dragon Felled

Since most are away & things are slow, how about a poem...
The Dragon Felled

 

From cloud to cloud astride the gaited stallion his mane a witness to his stud

Horse and rider gallop forth to spill the dragon's blood.

A moments breath of life they take atop the gathering storm 

Then man and beast race forward as they face the arciform.

 

"I am Vanguard", the rider cries, "all troops fall into me!"

"Bring to ruin your master's foe, their bones pitch to the sea."

 Then all around arose a sound like thunder with its sting

 Lightning lit the clouds below served on an angel's wing.

 

 The battle thus engaged on high warrior clashing with his foe

 Thrust and parry adversary crashed to the globe below. 

 Hand to hand and sword to sword the smell of death was strong

 Its shadow large it swallowed whole the dragons martial throng.

 

 At his sign, the battle halts then Vanguard starts to speak,

"Triumph comes to those who know the power of the meek"

"We struck as like a scorpion that in one moments breath"  

"Brought low the serpents paramours into eternal death."

 

The battle ended, now on high an angel breezes past

Those who oppose the rightful rule have interfered their last.

What say you mortal man to the question Vanguard spoke

When he bid all take a stand or e're with the snake be broke?
