The question was what model iPAQ you have.
You can get a lot of things that local stores don't have. That's what
the Internet search was for. Good stores will order anything they don't
have, and you can usually save a lot by ordering yourself directly.
If your iPAQ is capable of producing a wireless connection, then many
wireless keyboards using the same technology will work. The problem is
that the word "wireless" is pretty useless since it can mean radio and
microwave and infrared. According to
http://reviews.cnet.com/system-accessories/palm-universal-wireless-keyboard/4505-8896_7-31125482.html
your keyboard apparently uses infrared. That article has links to other
infrared keyboards. I should think some other infrared keyboard would
work too, but maybe not all have drivers that work with iPAQs.
As far as i understand, this is the only problem you're having:

That should be easy to solve with old-fashioned mechanical methods like
special rubber bands or an additional case holding both the keyboard and
the iPAQ. I'm sure your local (real) hardware store or even a carpenter
could provide an excellent solution.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
