[pchelpers] Re: Spinrite

I use Spinrite 5 to go over HDs to refresh them and to
find and mark bad sectors. And it has recovered sectors
that was marked bad by other programs. Don't know about
dying HDs. I think that would be a problem with the mechanics
of the drive I.e. motor and circuit boards and not the platters
themselves. I have heard that the platters would lose their
magnetism over time. But Spinrite is suppose to re-magnetize (re-fresh)
the sectors. logically this should work but I don't really know.

Anyone in this group ever use Spinrite by Steve Gibson? =

I have found conflicting info about its usefulness in recovering lost or =
  dying hard drives.
I would appreciate your weighing in on this software.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
