Hello,

I've been thinking about this post for hours, but have been away from my
computer. I re-read the special instructions for Vista on the MVP web
site, and found out they recommend Hostsman for administering your hosts
file in Vista as well. Evidently you can't just edit it directly without
admin priveleges.

I've never had Vista, so I was unaware of this. I'm now using Ubuntu,
and I need admin privileges to edit the hosts file as well, but it's a
simple matter of issuing a gksu gedit command in terminal, and typing in
my password, to get a text editor with admin privileges so I just use it.

I also looked at the Hostsman page a bit more, and realize it offers the
ability to scan your hosts file for hijack entries, so that's a plus as
well I suppose.

Later, Ray Parrish

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
