I picked this up from:
JANUARY NEWSLETTER FROM INTERMEDIA
1: Serious Threat to Internet Explorer Users
This is a VERY important security update from Intermedia. We have
recently learned about widespread use of a previously little known
vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer. This vulnerability
basically allows a third party to make changes to your browser settings
and even change the number you use to dial into your internet account
(that is, if you use a dial up connection). This can be extremely
serious especially if, as has happened some of our customers, that your
dial up number is changed to an international premium rate number.
If you dont use Internet Explorer you can disregard this message. If you
do use IE please visit our site where we have posted a step by step
illustrated instruction page on how to protect yourself from this. It's
very simple to do and should take no longer than 3 minutes of your time.
It's quite possible that your browser security settings are already
adequate to protect yourself from this but it's better safe than sorry.
