Hi Arlene
The name is "Spybot - Search & Destroy" and it's enough and best to call
the program just "Spybot".

You should never install the same program twice. If you choose a
different installation folder each time you install a program again,
that fills up your computer with junk that you don't need and also
forget about. The best way to avoid that mess and other problems is to
always uninstall any program before installing a newer version.
Are you running Spybot by going into its program folder in Windows
Explorer and doubleclicking on an exe file?? Normally, if you install a
program twice into two different folders, there is only one icon in your
start/programs list and perhaps on your desktop, an icon that is a
shortcut to the latest install. That makes the other install useless and
a waste of space.

Forget the rescue disk for now. Spybot and other antispyware programs
can lock up or seem to lock up for many reasons. Don't try to interrupt
their work until after a very long wait. They can be fighting baddies,
trying to download updates from overloaded servers, trying to start
despite a lack of RAM on your computer, or just plain scanning your
computer and analysing the results. Many spyware programs try to prevent
antispyware from loading, and the resulting fight can seem to lock up
the computer for a long time.

Spybot is and will remain free.
How many and which antispyware programs have you successfully scanned
your computer with?

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
