My reason is: hangs at/near the same place each time even in safe mode, and
near to completion. You could try something like Norton DiskDoctor which
gives you a little more info, but we usually run the utility from the hdd
manufacture first. Some of them have a 'repair' feature to fix what they
consider repairable problems. What make is your hard drive?
