[pchelpers] Re: STRANGE PROBLEM

Try the power connector to the hard disk. I just had my daughter's computer
in the shop for the same sort of reason. It wouldn't recognise the drive,
nothing there, nada, so she packed it up and sent it to me. When I turned
it on, it worked fine so I took the cover off and the slightest touch on the
power cable caused the hard disk to stop and start.

I unplugged the connector and squeezed the connector sockets slightly with
needle nosed ppliers and now it is as good as new.

Cheers
Nigel

> Hello all.........you will no doubt remember that a few weeks ago, I
posted a mail describing a fault in that my PC on boot up told me that there
was a system disk failure and I couldn't run f disk etc as it couldn't find
a primary disk and so forth. Some of you sent suggestions like loose or
dirty ribbon cables. Well it happened again today but all I did this time
was to pull the mains power supply plug and then replace it to restore the
power and then boot up...........and it did. So can this help you to think
of anything else that it may be?
