[pchelpers] SDTV

Maybe you guys can give me an answer.
As we all know starting in 2009 all tv signals will be digital
I know the difference between SDTV and HDTV picture wise.
But what I can't get a answer to is will a SDTV tuner still work after 2009.

On the boxes it says SDTV is a digital tuner.
But all the stores that I have seen has all SDTVs (VCRs, Recorders, TVs) 
with
paper disclaimers taped to them saying that they will not longer work 
after 2009 without converter boxes.

Most sales people tell me that SDTV digital tuners will not work with 
the digital signals
after 2009.
I thought a digital single was a digital signal.
