[pchelpers] Re: Recording convention programs

Inge, =

I do not live in Canada but the Assembly Hall in Grantville PA uses =
the same system and there was no way to plug in the audio cable into the=
receiver since the headset was not removable from the receiver. =

I wonder whether you can help me with a technical question that is not
directly related to computers,

In Canada the hearing impaired brothers and sisters do not use F.M. radi=
os
to listen to the program at conventions. We have some gadget that is cal=
led
"Personal P.A. Receiver." Even our Kingdom Halls are wired for this. It
works wonderful. The sound is nice and very clear.

I really want to use a digital recorder to record the convention program=
s,
but I do want to do the recording through the P.A. Receiver to get a cle=
ar
sound. I have a lot of problems understanding recordings from convention=
s.
They have a lot of background noise. I want a clear recording. I was tol=
d
that I can use the receiver for the recordings. =

My question is: Has anyone tried this? =

I tried to record at the Kingdom Hall yesterday. I let it run for about =
10
minutes by itself. Then I plugged the recorder into the receiver. It pla=
yed
back what I recorded for the first 10 minutes. From the moment I plugged=
 in
the receiver it stopped recording. It does not seem to work for me. What=
 am
I doing wrong? I was told that it can be done, but I cannot do it. I mus=
t be
doing something wrong.

All you Canadians out there who have experience with recording conventio=
n
programs, would you please tell me how to do it right. We have a circuit=

assembly coming up in the middle of December in London, Ontario, and I w=
ould
like to be ready.

Any help is appreciated.
Inge
