Morris,
   I had Windows ME on previous computer and it worked just great for 
me. Have a hard time figuring out why so many seem to hate it.
    GTC is right you need to boot up in safe mode. Usually if you start 
pressing F8 while the machine is booting up you will see a selection 
page where you can select SAFE mode.  Of course in SAFE mode ME always 
moves around your Desk Top Icons but that is a small matter you can 
re-align them when you complete the scan disk.   SCANDISK /F  should do 
the trick and repair any problems it sees.
