[pchelpers] Re Outllook Attachments

Re Outlook 2002.

I have a large Outlook PST file of 458MB (where all mail is stored), and =
the
reason it is so large is that Outlook for some strange reason files all =
the
attached files coming in and going out with the Inbox and SentItems =
folders.
Particularly for everything in the SentItems, I don't want to keep
attachments sent out as I already have the files stored elsewhere, and I =
see
I can manually edit individual messages and delete the attachment. =20

For instance before that I used Eudora, and the folders were separate =
from
the attachments and 7 years worth in 102 folders still only came to =
66MB. I
don't thank anyone has a PST file that small, and it makes it a lot =
harder
to back up.

Question 1 - Is there any way to set Outlook not to file attachments in =
the
SentItems and any tools to delete attachments from all or selected =
folders
or messages? (If not here is an idea for a really useful shareware =
tool)

Question 2 - Alternatively I see Outlook offers to archive older items.
What does that do?. I don't want to have to switch to another file to
search for old messages. Anyway I don't trust Outlook to do this as it
tends to lose track even of the one PST file I have and cannot see the
address book that is there. If it wasn't a work requirement actually I
wouldn't use Outlook. It's a piece of plastic glitzy rubbish, pretty,
functional and unreliable and hard to configure.

Question 3 - Also I notice in Microsoft security articles that Outlook =
users
are recommended to change the default view to not be Outlook Today, as =
it
makes Outlook vulnerable to all sorts of exploits. (Google search on =
mailto
interface will bring up lots of references). Does anyone know how to =
change
the default view, I can't find it. (This is an example of the hard to
configure complaint).

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
