[pchelpers] Re: Random shut down

One suspect would be the motherboard mounting. If there is anything 
under it making occasional contact, or if it is stressed physically, or 
not fitted with fibre washers on each mounting screw, then it could be 
causing weird behaviour (earth looping). I take it proper antistatic 
precautions were used? Were the memory and card edges cleaned with dry 
isopropyl alcohol before inserting in the slot? If not, dirt/dust could 
be a factor. Was the CMOS battery fully charged (usually around 
3.6volts). If low, the settings could become unstable/lost. Is the 
system connected to a power filter or a UPS? Either one would prevent 
power fluctuations that can cause these problems.
