"history" is the hidden text telling you where the file has been and where it 
was going....:^)
 
When you open the file, don't double click on it or click the 'open' icon in 
the Word apps. Use the File--->Open option. Then you'll get this dialog box 
where you highlight the document you want to open, then below the file name 
box, you'll see the option "file of type". Scroll down the drop-down menu till 
you get to the 'Recover Text of Any File (*.*)' option. Then you click the open 
button on this dialog box. This way you get to view the hidden text like what 
or when it was edited, by whom, where it was sent to etc...
