Okay, I think I might have found the problem.  Install Quicktime again. 
Then, open the Firefox extensions again and you will see "MP3... opens
with Quicktime" (that's what it says in mine).  You can then edit how
the file is opened.  One of the options is to open it with Windows Media
Player, or it gives options to open with other media players.  

It's interesting because in mine, it also says the file is associated
with Quicktime and I never knew that before.  I guess I don't play MP3
files online or I would have already known that.
