  Jackie,

1.0 I do not see why not as long as you have the bios correct and that there
is a driver form the motherboard manufacturer that will help you with XP. If
you have the HD with XP already installed, I do not see why you would have
to a complete reinstall of XP. You may need new drivers for your equipment
  that are for XP.

2.0 It depends on who you ask. Some say that XP is better than 2000 pro. I
have several very good computer analysts that will swear by 2000 pro and
would not give you a million wooden nickels for XP. All of them say that XP
has too many holes in it yet and in some cases drivers that work with 2000
pro will not work to their full capacity using XP. I would suggest waiting
for another 6 to 8 months before upgrading to XP let Microsoft work out the
  bugs.

3.0 I have used 2000 pro and love it to death. I'm not so sure about XP. I
have heard horror stories about XP and yet others like it. I know of no one
that really likes 2000 pro to switch as yet to XP pro.

I hope this answers your questions just a bit.

  John F

Hi: I am upgrading my present system with another Asus Athlon board--
and a CPU chip AMD Athlon --
  1. Suppose you had Window XP Pro on your existing computer and changed
your motherboard could you do a fresh install without any problems?

  2. What do you have to reactivate it again. Is Windows XP more user
friendly than win 2000? I know to get Windows 2000 pro operating, I had to
do a lot of things including upgrading my bios as Asus suggested. I like
windows 2000 pro so far its the best of any windows I had so far.

  3. Is Windows XP Pro much better than Windows 2000 pro-- I am getting
this as a gift-- sometimes in January so I need some help. I would like to
hear from someone who has Windows XP or the professional edition. Thanks---
"Hey so far we are snowless in Niagara Falls, hope it stays like that for a
  bit. " <G>---Jackie
