Inge,
To use a floppy to boot up generally requires that you know a little
about the DOS command line commands. The Bios can be generally displayed by
pressing the F8 key on boot up. On some computers it is F1 or ESC etc.
I just built a boot diskette and put three files on it
boot.ini
ntldr
ntdetect.com
None of the other two were available. My system is Windows XP and it is
built on NTFS Drives. I do not know if that has any bearing on it but it just
boots to the DOS A:\ promt and sits there. There is no effort to even try to
bring up windows form the hard drive.
If you indicate where you got the information from I could look at it and
maybe help but as it is, the process does not work for me on this system.

Does that mean that I have to put the files on a CD?

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
